On Day 39, you’ll master Unreal Engine’s Sequencer, the powerful non-linear editing and animation tool that brings games and cutscenes to life. Whether you’re creating a game trailer, a character intro, or an in-game scripted moment, Sequencer allows you to animate, time, and blend everything from character motion to environmental effects.

You’ll begin by learning the Sequencer interface, how to create and organize sequences, and what types of tracks you can control—including transforms, audio, lights, cameras, and animation clips. You’ll create Level Sequences and learn to keyframe actors’ movement, rotation, and scaling over time.

Next comes character animation: you’ll import existing animations or use Control Rig to animate your Metahuman or characters directly within Sequencer. You’ll also work with animation blending, adding life-like transitions and expressions. With track weights, you can smoothly interpolate between idle, walk, and emotive sequences.

Camera work becomes even more advanced here. Using Cinematic Camera Actors, you’ll animate zooms, pans, and focus pulls for dramatic effect. You’ll also synchronize camera switches with dialogue or gameplay events for a professional film-like cut.

Events and triggers can be embedded directly into the timeline, allowing you to:

  • Activate Niagara VFX

  • Trigger sound effects or music

  • Enable or disable collision

  • Start Blueprints (e.g., explode a crate, spawn an NPC)

You’ll also learn to blend gameplay with cutscenes, transitioning from free movement into a cinematic moment and back, using event triggers or player actions.

By the end of Day 39, you’ll produce a fully timed and animated cutscene or scripted gameplay sequence using Sequencer—a vital skill for narrative-driven games, trailers, or storytelling sequences.
